Sunwolf

"I am living in Redwood Valley, California, two hours north of San Francisco."

"I grew up in spring valley New York about thirty minutes north of the city, to Alice Barton and Gerald Karnow. Ever since I was a boy I worked in the shop with my dad, nailing scrap wood together at first making toys, and moving along to make bowls and spoons. When I was 11 years old, I had a year and a half apprenticeship with an elder woman named Joan Saures, focusing on the intricacies of the wood lathe. After that time I began exploring turning on my own, making bowls, boxes, lamps etc. I continuously pursued woodworking in school whenever possible, and focused on it in college."

"I spent two years at College of the Redwoods studying woodwork, psychology and philosophy as well as many other different subjects. I have worked with many woodworkers ranging from high end cabinet making in Brooklyn to shaker furniture in New York to sculptural woodwork in North Carolina to historical restoration in Providence Rhode Island."

"I have set up a shop in my friends barn and am focusing my work on turning (using the wood lathe) as well as carving."
